- Germany will take its own time to strengthen defense
Germany will fulfill its promise to increase military spending but on its own time, German Chancellor Angela Merkle told U.S. Vice President Mike Pence on Saturday. “We will do everything we can in order to fulfill this commitment,” Merkel said at the Munich Security Conference.
- Tillerson’s message to Ukraine
U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson sent a message of unity to Ukraine, said Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko on Friday. He was describing a conversation on Friday afternoon, he said Tillerson “confirmed to me our unity … and our solidarity.”

President Donald Trump on Saturday spoke again to his claim at a press conference that he “inherited a mess,” and telling his Twitter followers not to believe “the mainstream” media. “Don’t believe the mainstream (fake news) media.The White House is running VERY WELL. I inherited a MESS and am in the process of fixing it.”
- Secret Service investigation
The Secret Service is investigating an object that was thrown at Donald Trump’s motorcade in Florida on Friday. “The Secret Service can confirm that an object appears to have been thrown at the motorcade this afternoon,” a Secret Service spokesperson said in a statement. “We are investigating at this time and don’t have anything further.”
